God is Worthy of my Praise

The Psalm I posted yesterday, Psalm 100, is one of my favorites.  I wanted to meditate on it a bit today and look at why the psalmist was so eager to give thanks to the Lord.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
    Serve the Lord with gladness!
    Come into his presence with singing!

Verses 1 and 2 describe attitude and service that is joy filled.  God is approachable!
Know that the Lord, he is God!

    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Verse 3 describes Creator God and our relationship to Him- we are His sheep under His care and protection.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

    and his courts with praise!
    Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Verse 4 tells us to praise and thank Him by name.

For the Lord is good;

    his steadfast love endures forever,
    and his faithfulness to all generations.

Verse 5 reminds us of His goodness, love  and faithfulness that are steadfast and eternal.

I am so blessed to serve a Creator God that is good, loving, accessible, faithful and eternal.  He promises to care for me like a shepherd cares for his sheep-guarding, guiding, loving and protecting them all day every day.  Reflecting on God’s attributes fills me with thanks and joy.   He is pleased by my faith and blesses me through it.

pslam 100Prayer:   Thank you Lord for sustaining and carrying me over the rough patches of life.  Thank you for upholding me and comforting me in times distress.  Thank you Lord for being unchanging and faithful.  You are forever faithful to all generations- those who went before me and those who will come after me.  Give me words to tell of your eternal greatness.  Let praise and thanksgiving be on my lips.  You are worthy of all my praise.  Amen.

Have a great Monday by beginning your work week with thanks.
