Yesterday I attended a celebration of Life for a dear friend. He always seemed to reflect Jesus in his actions as he would go out of his way to help others. He showed love to others by offering a helping hand or a kind word whenever he saw you. On days that I would see him, I was always encouraged and uplifted by our encounters. He left a legacy of Jesus’ love in his wake.
Showing Love for others is a command. “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.” John 13:34-35
As we seek to be more like Jesus and think about things that need to be corrected or adjusted in our deeds and attitudes- how about love? Is it part of your everyday interactions with others? Do others see Jesus’ love coming through your words and actions? Only through the power of the Holy Spirit can we follow Jesus’ command. Ask Him for power to show love to others today.
Prayer: Father, give me love in my heart for others. Cause others to see you in my life because of the way I show your love to them. I desire to be your disciple so through the power of the Holy Spirit let me see your way of love today. Amen.
