Looking at the Cross, I see Love

I can’t believe we only have one more week before Holy Week begins.  During our time together we have looked at many aspects of God and our faith.  This last week, I want to focus on the cross and what it tells us about God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).  First and foremost, I see God’s love.  John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever  believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. love-john-3-16 Actually, I find that kind of love incomprehensible.  That God would love me so much He would send His only Son to redeem me at great cost to both Father and Son.  He sent Him to die a horrific death, experience humiliation at the hands of men, to be separated from all that was His in heaven and to live an exemplary life on my behalf.  What of Jesus?  He came willingly to live among us to show me who He was, reveal God the Father to me and pay penalty for my sin.  Only a truly loving Father and Son would go to such lengths to redeem me and bring me back into relationship with them.   Do you see this incomprehensible love as you gaze at the cross?  Micah 7:18 says it this way, ” Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?   Such love!God like you

Prayer:  Father, thank you for loving me and sending Jesus to die for my sins.  Thank you for redeeming me and bringing me to a place where I can fellowship with Holy God.  As I gaze a the cross of Christ this week, give me a new appreciation for the love and sacrifice that is displayed there.  Amen.

Looking at a loving God through Jesus,

Linda
