Joy filled Thanks

David was the anointed king of Israel, yet he fled from Saul the current king for 13 years.  Pursued and persecuted by Saul, David did not lose heart but placed his trust in God and gave Him thanks.  He knew that God would make him king as promised when the time was right.  Psalm 28 is one of several psalms David wrote that show his reliance, dependence and complete trust in God.  As David looks at what is happening around him, he sees the Lord as his strength and shield.  He proclaims his trust and joy inc the Lord.  His Lord fills him with joy and thanksgiving for all He has done for him.

psalm 28The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

The Lord gives his people strength.
He is a safe fortress for his anointed king. (NLT)

Are you joyful today as you think about all that God has done for you?  Is God your strength and shield?  David knew where his greatest strength was and it filled him with joyful thanks.  Will you start this month of Thanksgiving with joyful thanks to the Lord?  Take a moment right now to thank Him.
