One of the most important characteristics of God Almighty is His faithfulness. We depend upon His faithfulness daily and know that He will uphold us and be with us. Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD you God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” We know God is faithful and will keep His promises. Hebrews 10:23″Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we process, for he who promised is faithful.” We also know and depend upon God’s faithful forgiveness 1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Those are just a few of the ways God is faithful to us. When we say we want to be more like Jesus, that means we want to take on God’s character. God wants us to be faithful. Here are a few ways God desires us to be faithful: in witnessing, praying and loving others.
God tells us in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Are you showing your faithfulness to Jesus by telling others about His great love and forgiveness? What about praying? 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “pray continually” and James 5:16b says “pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” Do you pray for other so they can be uplifted and healed? Loving is easy to say but difficult to do. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 “Be on guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” Are you struggling to love others with Christ like devotion?
The Lord knew I needed to write about faithfulness today and immerse myself in His Word. Recently, I lost my son Steven. I trust in God’s faithfulness and know he is now with Jesus but the reality of his passing is still shocking and very painful. He was only 31, and I thought he had so much more to give and receive in life. God knows us and has numbered our days, and I trust Him that though Steve’s time was short he touched many lives. I have been mightily touched by the prayers of the saints offered up for my family and me. I have truly felt the loving arms of Jesus surround me. As I read cards and posts that people are praying for me, there is a peace and wholeness that comes into my soul. I will never again take prayer for granted, as I am assured that praying for others is something they can feel and uplifts them as nothing in this world can. Thank you for your prayers. I have truly been touched by the hand of God.
In love and with a prayerful heart,
